This is a Summer 2024 internship to support Scout’s procurement efforts. Our intern will leverage their technical and analytical skills to identify better approaches to common challenges faced in the utility-scale renewable energy industry.
The main focus of the internship will be the following project:
Battery Storage Operation and Maintenance Scope of work redesign:
Scout Clean Energy has a robust battery energy storage system (BESS) future project pipeline. This project will focus on finding the most effective operation and maintenance (O&
M) strategy for Scout's future battery storage sites. As an intern, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research on the various O&
M services available. You will gather all relevant data, categorize it into workable groups, and work closely with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to propose the most effective solution(s) for our projects. This essential project will involve collaboration with members of our Procurement, Asset Management, and Engineering teams. You will be expected to work independently, provide regular updates and trials to key stakeholders at Scout, and participate in exploratory meetings, scope of work reviews, SWOT, and Value Engineering Analysis.
Deliverables:
Report recommending effective BESS O&
M strategy for Scout.
In addition to their core project, we plan to provide the intern with two other types of professional development:
Secondary research project– You will have the opportunity to collaborate on a smaller research project with the Procurement Team and then complete it during the internship. (Approx. 15% time)
Industry exposure– Our Procurement Team will invite you to shadow them during meetings and other training opportunities in order to provide you with additional insight into key industry trends and challenges. (Approx. 15% time)
Requirements
Interest in the renewable energy industry.
Interest in Supply Chain field.
Proficient in Microsoft Office based applications.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in delivery and in results.
Dynamic verbal and written communication skills that are appropriate for a professional setting.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Organizational Fit
Demonstrated ability to work in a flat organization, successfully leveraging the expertise of multiple colleagues in different lines of reporting.
Effective communication, project management and team-building skills experience working with cross- functional internal and external technical advisors and stakeholders.
Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities with clear target setting and follow- through capability in a fast-paced work environment.
Willing and available to travel as needed (one trip during the program).
Authorized to work in the United States.
Required Education:
Currently enrolled student in an accredited college or university in a technical discipline such as:
Engineering, Supply Chain, Economy, Business Management, Project Management, Physics, or Math.
Timeline and Location
This position will begin with a target state date in late May 2024.
Scout requires interns to be available to work at our Boulder based office.
