Are you a respiratory therapist dedicated to improving the lives of seniors? At Omni Continuing Care, the respiratory therapist assesses treats and cares for the residents with breathing disorders. The therapist assumes the responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, initiates and conducts therapeutic procedures;
maintains patient records;
and selects, assembles,checks, and operates equipment.

Responsibilities

Initiates, monitors and maintains life support systems
Ensures department compliance within facility guidelines
Ensures staff compliance with facility and regulatory agencies guidelines
Oversees operations and standards of practice within the department
Assists subordinate staff when needed
Ensures adequate staff coverage for hours of operation
Performs staff scheduling and develop assignment rotation
Monitors outcomes of various respiratory care procedures
Establishes and maintains respiratory equipment par-level and required maintenance records
Troubleshoots equipment malfunction
Conducts quality assurance audits
Conducts quality control monitoring
Aides in the development and implementation of quality improvement programs
Performs random resident care compliance audits
Participates in on-going educational programs to enhance clinical competency for self and staff
Provides routine clinical care including ventilator checks, tracheostomy care, suctioning, resident evaluations, care plan development, respiratory medication delivery, supply changes and equipment management.
Actively participates in Quality Assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
Interprets Company policy and makes decisions based on the application of those policies where applicable.
Exercise unimpaired judgment in the interest of the Company.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must be a certified or registered Respiratory Therapist
Licensed in the state of Michigan
Completion of a two-year accredited Respiratory Program
Current CPR certification
Preferred two years experience in long term care
