The Plant Manager is responsible for the entire manufacturing plant operations. This position will manage various areas of the operation such as planning, production, distribution, warehouse, quality, maintenance, safety and recruitment. This position is responsible for assisting in creating a vision that enhances performance as well as engaging and energizing the team in developing a common understanding of future direction.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides direction to Plant and Distribution Teams in order to ensure optimum quality of product while providing timely and efficient service to internal and external customers.
  • Implements and ensures that proper policies and procedures regarding production quality, manufacturing standards, plant sanitation and plant safety are being followed.
  • Responsible for adhering to the company policies and procedures related to Food Quality and Safety.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Federal, State/Provincial, County, Municipal and Company sanitation standards are met at the operating region.
  • Ensures that the formal quality control programs and procedures are implemented as well as reviews all regional sanitation and quality control reports and takes immediate corrective action when warranted.
  • Directs a structured productivity program that results in annual cost savings, productivity improvement and accomplishment of division objectives.
  • Manages all bag ordering requirements and bag issue resolution.
  • Coordinates delivery routes and ensures delivery personnel maintain a superior level of customer service through an organized routing system.
  • Ensures that daily reconciliation of packaged ice transfers in and out of the warehouse through a daily inventory program.
  • Arranges driver scheduling in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance with but not limited to EPA, OSHA, FDA, and Military.
  • Manages the production team to ensure all aspects of production are operational and efficient.
  • Ensures Associates have the information and resources they need to do their jobs and provides training as required.
  • Directs a structured goals and objectives program resulting in annual cost savings, productivity improvements and accomplishments or overall objectives.
  • Leads and develops Associates to grow personally and professionally.
  • Ensures all staff members are treated fairly under the guidelines of the company’s policies.
  • Work in compliance with company standards, State and Federal government regulations and food safety quality standards.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years’ experience.
  • Management experience in production/manufacturing and knowledge of general business, the ice industry and the food-related industry.
  • Thorough understanding of financial statements and the budgeting process.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of hand held computer system and its functions.
  • Broad knowledge of general business, the ice industry and the food-related industry.
  • Strong background in production and manufacturing.
  • Thorough understanding of financial statements and the budgeting process.
  • Skills in organization and time management.
  • Skills in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to identify the need, and the willingness to seek assistance or guidance when necessary.
  • Ability to manage a variety of personality types.
  • Patient, persistent and adaptable.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent supervisory, interpersonal and communication skills.
