Typical job responsibilities will include Nuclear Safety analysis and Document Development, review of system design;
review, checking and commenting on safety analysis documents and calculations prepared by peer engineers and subcontractors;
engineering studies andreport preparation;
and engineering computer modeling as assigned. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned.
Provide expert analysis and assistance for NS matters.
Prepare and revise NS analysis, calculations, and safety basis documentation.
Prepare Safety Basis Changes, NS Evaluations, Unreviewed Safety Question Determinations and Unreviewed Safety Question Determination (USQD) Screenings.
Evaluate existing site operations, modifications, and new operations for compliance with the Safety Basis and Nuclear Criticality Safety codes and standards, federal, state, or local statutes, and Nuclear Criticality Safety regulations.
Perform inspections, identify, and assess hazards;
develop recommendationson Nuclear Safety issues.
Develop Nuclear Safety procedures and guides.
Work with Engineering to provide technical guidance to project personnel.
It is desirable that the SMEs be familiar with Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Site and its current Safety Basis, NCS program, and change control processes.
Requirements
Bachelors of Engineering (or equivalent technical degree) and 8 years’ experience.
Experience in safety basis development
Experience in the calculations as well as software quality assurance.
This position can be a combination of remote and onsite work. Travel to the site will be required.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
