Purpose
Energy Aspects currently has an exciting opportunity for a Macro Energy Analyst to join our growing global team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an early career analyst who is looking to make an invaluable contribution to the rapid growth story of a leading and highly regarded energy markets research consultancy.
Our Macro Energy team helps financial clients navigate fast-moving markets, leveraging EA group’s industry-leading analysis and expertise to help the world’s top hedge funds, asset managers, commodity trading houses, banks and institutional investors.
This individual will assist the Macro Energy team in analysing financial oil and natural gas markets. The role involves a significant strategy component, assessing factors driving prices and generating insights to aid our clients' investment decision-making process.
At Energy Aspects our Analysts work across the full research lifecycle:
from building and maintaining data models and monitoring market developments, through to writing concise analysis and responding to client requests. You will work closely with the head of Macro Energy in presenting forward-looking assessments of energy price risks, and opportunities by integrating fundamental, macroeconomic, geopolitical and cross-asset analysis.
Our Analysts are responsible for preparing or contributing to many of our publications, from regular reports to in-depth reports on themes. This involves carrying out a comprehensive analysis of relevant information and drawing out the most relevant trends.
Our clients value our views and insights, so you will be helping to shape forward-looking views and not just historical analysis. You will be expected to consistently produce work at a high enough standard to send out to our demanding client base. We pride ourselves on the quality of our end-product and are meticulous about ensuring a high degree of accuracy across our services and you will need to share this commitment.
This position will require flexibility and the drive to go beyond the core hours when needed, ensuring we all fulfil our goals. Duties
Collaborating with the wider global team to ensure that EA reports meet our standards for quality, accuracy and depth of insight.
Establishing a comprehensive network of relevant market experts and leveraging their knowledge to build a deeper understanding of the markets.
Assisting in the formulation and writing EA views of global oil and gas markets.
Assisting the presentation of EA’s views on markets to clients and prospects.
Contributing to our written weekly and monthly reports.
Requirements
Deep interest in pursuing a career in energy markets analysis and strategy.
Previous work experience in financial markets or at a financial institution.
Experience analysing the short-term drivers of oil and gas markets including impact of macro events.
Proficiency with MS Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point).
Proficiency with Bloomberg terminal.
Experience writing concise market reports both for internal and external purposes.
Desirable skills
Existing knowledge of trading global energy markets (oil, gas or products).
Fundamental modelling experience.
