Purpose
Energy Aspects is seeking an experienced market analyst with an interest in the transition to lower carbon fuels to join our growing research team as a Senior Energy Transition Analyst in either our Houston or New York offices. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commodity market professional with a strong fundamentals analysis skillset and solid communication skills who is looking to further their career in the growing energy transition space and apply their analytical mindset to the emerging field of biofuels markets. If you do not have direct experience in the biofuels specialism full training and support will be provided although Markets experience is essential.
Reporting into the Head of Energy Transition, you will be the lead analyst for the US and wider Americas region for Energy Transition research, focusing on US biofuels and related compliance markets. In this capacity you will be instrumental in launching and growing a global biofuels service for a well-respected, established and rapidly growing energy markets research consultancy.
The responsibilities will span the full cycle of work, from building and maintaining balances and other data models, to monitoring market and policy developments, through to delivering your insights and opinion to clients in a clear, data-driven form. You will work closely with our global Research teams, collaborating to decipher developments in the biofuels markets and their relevance for global energy markets.
To that extent, this role will require a strong market analytics toolkit and a proven commodity fundamentals modelling experience.
The incumbent will also be expected to construct and improve existing processes and models, mentor other staff and interact with EA clients and prospects. You will be expected to consistently produce work at the high standard expected by our demanding client base. You will need to share our commitment to timely, meticulous and accurate analysis and a high quality end-product.

Duties
Lead the build out and maintenance of the supply-demand model for the US and other regional biofuels markets.
Contribute to formulation of the EA view on the biofuels market, including supply, demand and pricing outlook, working with team members to develop one consistent view.
Develop understanding of policies in the biofuels space and their impact on markets in the short and medium-term. Be able to identify and articulate how regulatory framework to facilitate long-term transition to lower carbon fuels affects markets today.
Write relevant and insightful reports and analyses on market movements.
Deliver our views to clients through participation in presentations and workshops, as well as responding to incoming queries.
Provide mentorship and coaching to a junior analyst on the team.
Build and maintain strong internal and external networks.
Present our views to news organisations.
Requirements
Solid demonstrable senior analytical experience in energy or wider commodities space at a consultancy or a trading function.
Fundamental modelling experience (building and maintaining complex models, working with statistical tools, regression modelling).
An innate ability to identify key trends in large datasets.
Successful track record in producing original market insights.
Strong written English and ability to quickly formulate and communicate views in a clear and concise manner.
Experienced and dynamic presentation skills to large and small groups.
Desirable skills
Analytical experience working with biofuels, environmental compliance markets, or low carbon fuel feedstock markets. Knowledge of the US, Canadian or Latin American biofuels markets including regulatory framework, demand and supply fundamentals would be a particular differentiator.
Data analysis and coding skills, using Python, SQL or similar.
Experience in public speaking and talking to the media.
