Job Description:
The Grower Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial activities related to our growing operations. This position involves handling accounts payable and receivable, processing invoices, managing payroll, conducting financial reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within the agricultural sector and possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable &
Receivable:
Process and manage high-volume invoices related to grower operations.
Perform 2-way and 3-way matching, batching, and coding of invoices.
Prepare and execute check runs, process deposits, and resolve invoice discrepancies.
Financial Management:
Prepare financial statements and reports related to grower activities.
Manage payroll for seasonal and permanent employees.
Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations.
Lease &
Rental Management:
Handle lease agreements and monitor rental activities.
Perform property inspections and conduct credit checks for tenants.
Tenant Communication &
Rent Collection:
Communicate with tenants regarding rent collection and lease terms.
Manage rent collection and ensure timely deposits.
General Accounting:
Process credit applications and make bank deposits.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Compliance &
Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and company policies.
Generate and review aging reports and follow up on outstanding accounts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the agricultural sector.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.G. SAP, Famous, SAGE, etc.)and MS Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of agricultural industry practices and regulations is a plus.
