General Manager
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States (On-site)
Salary Range:
$90,000 - $100,000 per year
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday
Outer Seaways (a subsidiary of EMSI, Inc.) is seeking a General Manager to take over running the day-to-day operations of a small freight forwarding / NVOCC business in Center City Philadelphia. This role will report directly to the Managing Director of the parent company and has P&
L responsibility. We arelooking for an energetic and entrepreneurial candidate to manage the existing business and develop new business.
Candidates must have extensive experience in logistics / freight forwarding and experience managing a team.
Responsibilities

  • Lead a small freight forwarder / NVOCC with one direct report handling operational duties.
  • Ensure prompt and excellent service to preserve customer loyalty.
  • Manage and grow existing accounts.
  • P&
    L responsibility. Responsible for the profitability of the company.
  • Maintain relations and pricing agreements with carriers.
  • Maintain Carrier Tariff with Tariff Company
  • Work with overseas agents.
  • Manage 3rd party warehousing and consolidation.
  • Review documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain appropriate level of insurance.
  • Update and maintain records in company's business software.
  • Prepare System Invoices and payment vouchers in order to send to Accounting for input into QuickBooks.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years in freight forwarding / NVOCC industry with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead.
  • Must have thorough understanding of Federal Maritime Regulations.
  • Must be prepared to serve as the NVOCC's Qualified Individual (QI) after approval from the Federal Maritime Administration.
