The Director of Finance serves as a financial leader and advisor to the CEO and Leadership Team for strategic planning purposes;
oversees all sides of accounting operations, including payables, receivables, payroll, and tax preparation. Develops appropriate tracking methods for revenue and expenses to include grant award funding.
Essential Responsibilities:
Ensures financial accountability of the organization and minimizes organizational risk.
Assists with financial oversight and management of grant award funding and communicates with funders on questions/issues, treatment, and availability of funds. Analyzes and monitors projects fund and cash balances to keep project team informed of status to the grant award.
Works with the CEO to upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
Enables smart financial decision making by ensuring Board of Trustees and staff are well-informed and understand GSI’s financial position and their accountability to meet our financial goals.
Stays abreast of and ensures compliance with business regulatory requirements set by the Federal, State, and local governments.
Prepares and presents all financial reports for the Leadership Team, Finance and Administration Committee, and Executive Board.
Manages the work and volunteers of the Finance and Administration Committee.
Develops and maintains relationships with banks, vendors, and brokers to positively impact GSI’s operations.
Acts as the benefit administrator in collaboration with the Director of Administration, ensuring seamless management of employee benefits within the organization.
Collaborates with Team Leaders and the CEO, overseeing contracts, including grants, to ensure comprehensive management of contractual obligations within the organization.
Coaches, mentors, and directs the efforts of Finance staff to achieve GSI’s Strategic Plan.
Contributes to driving an organizational culture of teamwork, support, engagement, and empowerment.
Contributes to organizational success by:
providing strategic input on issues affecting the organization
working with colleagues to discover and develop ways to retain, grow, better align, and leverage GSI resources for greater impact
developing and maintaining relationships with GSI’s Board and members to improve investor engagement
regularly evaluating GSI’s systems and processes for continuous improvement;
and
directing the collection, organization, and presentation of key data in relation to GSI’s strategic plan and goals.

Experience Requirements:

Education/Experience:
bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and 6 years of related experience or training is required. An equivalent combination of education and non-profit accounting experience may be considered.
6+ years of broad financial, human resources, and operations management experience preferred.
Prior industry and non-profit experience preferred.
Experience with fund accounting and IT systems preferred.
Ability to translate financial concepts to, and effectively collaborate with, colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
Demonstrated strong leadership skills and a track record for sustained measurement of program outcomes.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others to achieve desired results.
Demonstrated competency in financial management, including experience in budget development and management.
Experience managing and supporting committees of volunteers.
Certificates and Licenses:
CPA or CMA preferred. Valid driver's license.
Computer Skills:
Technology savvy with experience in selecting and overseeing IT network solutions.
Implementation and relationship management with business application providers.
Proficient in using accounting, HR and payroll apps, Microsoft Office suite, and CRM apps.
Preferred experience with Intacct Fund Accounting and PayNOrthwest payroll/HR products.
Supervisory and Management Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the overall direction coordination, and evaluation of the Finance team. It directly supervises employees assigned to this position and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels. Frequently required to travel to local events, meetings, or training by car;

frequently required to work more than 40 hours per week to meet deadlines, finish assignments, or attend events and meetings.

Benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 depending on experience
