Cable Technician
Assist with theInstallation and testing of projects(new construction/existing)including but not limited to access control, intrusion and detection systems, video surveillance, mass notification, distributed annotation systems (DAS), Structured Cable, Paging, CATV and Fiber optics
Requirements
Technical domain knowledge sufficient to perform responsibilities, satisfy performance measurements and ensure credibility with external stakeholders
Have a valid driver license
Ability to problem solve and work with hands.
Ability to travel on short notice
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb a 6 or 8 foot ladder
Able to lift 55Lbs
Work on your feet for a minimum of 8 hours
Able bend, stoop or crouch
Able to climb stairs
Responsibilities:
Analyze blueprints and other documentation needed to execute project on time and under budget
Prepare/install cable pathways and supports
Running new cabling in new or existing buildings
Termination and testing of new and existing cables:
Cat5e, Cat6 and 10gig
Set up telecommunication frames including racks, cabinets and wall mount racks
Operate test equipment, including tones, twisted pair checkers butt set and cable scanners (Fluke DTX1800)
Able to adapt to change in scope of work, work hours, project size and travel
Be able to install, terminate, test and commission a wide range of products, including but not limited to voice and data cabling, paging systems, camera systems, security systems, and audio visual systems
Ability to manage different personalities as it applies to the job
