Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an Archaeologist III for immediate, full-time employment within our Cultural Resources practice in Portland, Oregon. The Archaeologist is a core member of the Cultural Resources Program in the Pacific Northwest, with responsibility for successfully executing projects and leading all aspects of project implementation. This is a regular, full-time, salaried position. The Archaeologist may serve as a Field Director or Principal Investigator, based on work experience and education.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Being a part of the cultural resources team supporting the decommissioning of the Lower Klamath Project, a precedent setting dam removal and salmon habitat restoration project on the Klamath River.
Managing projects with small- to large-scale field efforts (survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring) and intensive schedules.
Managing and executing archival research, technical report writing, state and federal archaeological permitting, data collection and compilation, and/or GIS mapping.
Operating as primary author or senior reviewer, as appropriate.
Managing large-scale compliance monitoring projects requiring adherence to permit conditions.
Works under supervision of senior staff but is capable of completing all but the most complex tasks with minimal supervision.
Supervising personnel in the field, office, and laboratory, as needed.
Liaising and developing positive relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework, including the National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, as well as other state and local regulations protecting cultural resources.
Organizing data in an efficient and clear manner.
Handling multiple tasks and communicating priorities to manager.
Operating as primary point of contact for clients and resource agencies on projects, as needed
Performing client management duties such as recurring status meetings, milestone check ins, and day-to-day interfacing.
Working independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility and willingness to support multiple projects, including travel.
