Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced Archaeologist for full-time employment in our Los Angeles or Orange, CA offices. The Project Archaeologist is a core member of the Cultural Resources Practice with responsibility for successfully executing all aspects of project implementation.This is a regular, full-time, salaried position that will report to the Cultural Resources Team Manager.The Project Archaeologist may serve as a Field Director or Principal Investigator, based on work experience and education.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leading fieldwork (survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring), archival research, technical report writing, state and federal archaeological permitting, data collection and compilation, and GIS mapping.
Gathering data and other information to be used in the preparation of environmental reports.
Working both independently and under supervision of senior staff.
Supervising personnel in the field, office, and laboratory, as needed.
Leading or assisting with project management and preparing proposal scopes and budgets.
Providing specialist technical advice on cultural resource management to clients.
Liaising and developing positive relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act, and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
Ability to organize data in an efficient and clear manner.
Drawing conclusions and making recommendations based on analysis.
Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Working independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility and willingness to support multiple projects, including occasional travel.
Being innovative and a problem solver.
Handling multiple tasks and communicating priorities to manager.
Participating in marketing and business development efforts in pursuit of new clients and projects.
