Responsible for driving weld Safety, Quality and Effectivity. Conduct random visual inspections to monitor weld quality. Provide weld technical support to shop and aid in improving the coordination and collaboration between hourly and salary associates, Teams and departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Follow welding/inspection procedures.
2. Conduct random inspections to verify weld quality.
3. Provide weld technical support for shop, Purchasing, Operations and Engineering.
4. Maintain routings and B.O.Ms.
5. Train Welders as required on accepted quality criteria, best practices, weld technique and equipment and process parameters in relation to WPSs.
6. Set up tooling as required for process.
7. Assist with operator PMs.
8. Practice and facilitate Continuous Improvement.
9. Provide drawing &
weld symbol interpretation.
10. Identify and communicate robot weld issues to the Robot Tech.
11. Use design failure mode effects analysis to develop process mode failure effect analysis.
12. Champion problem solving in weld using OOS problem solving tools (8D, Fishbone Diagrams, 5 Whys, etc).
13. Apply the Weld Control Plan to daily production. Utilize SPC to setup proper process parameters addressing Method, Material, Machine and Man failure modes.
14. Conduct weld LPAs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, HSED or GED
3+ years related work experience
AWS Certified Weld Inspector
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree in Welding Technology or Industrial Welding or IE/ME degree with CWI accreditation?
