The Weld-Technician II (WT2, is a mid-level fabrication position responsible for fitting and welding metal parts together according to provided drawings and sketches. They will work both independently and within a Team to accomplish given tasks, is responsible for operating and maintaining all of the non-CNC fabrication equipment and maintaining a clean and safe work area within a fast-paced ever-changing work environment.
Position works Monday - Friday, 8:
00am - 5:
00pm with occasional overtime.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Weld Tech I (WT1) responsibilities, plus:
Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, welding, and assembly.
Operation and maintenance of all S3S owned fabrication tools (Non-CNC assets).
Collaborate with FM to determine future supplies, tooling, and welding machine needs.
Perform visual inspection of welded components to determine what actions are required.
Replace old or defective fabrication consumables with new ones (Stinger, etc.).
Perform QA/QC checks on welded assemblies prior to being queued for painting and properly recording test results.
Identify unsafe conditions or potential hazards within the work environment and report.
Works within approved budget;
develops and implementscost saving measures to conserve organizational resources.
Working in collaboration with the Shop, Electrical, and Engineering team members for small projects.
May be asked to provide evaluation input of current MO1 &
WT1 employees for internal promotion.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Familiar with both SAE and Metric threads, including making new threads, repairing damaged threads, removing broken bolts from threaded holes, determining an unknown thread.
Working knowledge of welded piping components and how/where to install (reducers, nipples, thread-o-lets, flanges, etc.).
Working knowledge of fixturing and weld setup parameters (volts, amps, etc.) for MIG (GMAW) on ferrous materials.
Working knowledge of fixturing and weld setup parameters (volts, amps, etc.) for Stick (SMAW) on flat plate and pipe.
Knowledge of wire and filler material applications for various stainless, aluminum, &
steel alloys.
Proficient in the safe operation of a handheld plasma and oxy-acetylene torch.
Demonstrate the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Must be capable of coaching and training new team members.
Ability to Weld with base material:
Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Ability to lift up to 50lbs
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, LICENSES AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma, or equivalent GED, required
2+ Years in a fabrication environment, preferred
Experience in:
