Summary:
This role will focus on the design, development, and maintenance of insurance-based applications. You will interact with and work in tandem with other IT and business staff to holistically develop, deploy, enhance, and support modern versions of our legacy business applications.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Participate in team-based Agile development, and daily scrum meetings
Engage with BA, QA, and Infrastructure teams to share information and ensure deliverables
Actively participate in the analysis and review of business and process requirements
Define and document functional details of all development projects you participate on
Provide accurate time estimates, and outline dependencies and milestones
Develop high quality, readable, and reusable code in accordance with company standards
Perform, plan, and verify unit testing, to ensure code meets all business requirements
Review, analyze, and resolve software defects, developing easily maintainable applications
Knowledge &
Skills:
Legacy Dev Languages VBA (MS Access &
Excel), VB.Net, PHP, Batch Scripts,
Modern Dev Languages - AngularJS, ReactJS, NodeJS, C#, Python
Databases - Queries &
tuning, using Access, MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL
Web Infrastructure - IIS, WebLogic, Apache/Tomcat
IDE &
API Tools MS Visual Studio, Postman
MS Office Suite (2003-2010, O365) Focused on Access, Excel, &
Word
Source Control BitBucket, SVN, GitHub
Documentation &
Ticketing - Atlasssian JIRA &
Confluence
Basic understanding of IT networks, access roles, permissions, and security
Education &
Qualifications:
Accredited Bachelors degree or higher in CS/IS or a related field
6+ years of development with a Microsoft-centric technology stack
6+ years of VBA application development experience
6+ years of database query and tuning experience
Experience in working with complex VBA in Access &
Excel
Experience designing UI/UX around business data entry forms
Experience supporting legacy applications with modern solutions
Experience troubleshooting production application issues in real-time
Excellent oral &
written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to accept critiques and feedback
Ability to be creative and explore untested potential solutions
Ability to work with modest over-sight and be self-motivated
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
