Value Schools opened its first school in 2002 and now operates four charter schools authorized by the Los Angeles Unified School District:
Downtown Value School and Everest Value School (serving K-8th Grade), along with Central City Value High School and University Prep Value High School (serving 9th-12th Grade).
The Value Schools mission is to establish and support high quality, values based elementary and secondary charter schools for populations of students who have been historically underserved by the public school system.

OPPORTUNITY
Value Schools is currently searching for a dynamic and visionary Principal at Downtown Value School, serving students in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th Grade, to lead the development and management of effective school instruction, systems, teams, and policies aligned with our mission and values.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned school leader who will have a proven track record in building positive school cultures and demonstrating expertise in data analysis, project management, and compliance. This role encompasses fostering an inclusive environment, building partnerships, and addressing social-emotional needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities of the Principal include:
Instructional Leadership
Possess a deep understanding of effective instructional practices, guiding teachers in implementing innovative and engaging approaches to teaching and learning;
Drive dynamic, collaborative, and innovative leadership with a proven track record of success in improving student outcomes.
People Management and Talent Development
Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to the school community, fostering a culture of high expectations for both staff and students;
Demonstrate expertise in recruiting, retaining, and developing high-performing teachers and staff, emphasizing a keen eye for talent;
Develop and articulate a clear vision for the school's future, inspiring and motivating others to contribute to the achievement of this vision.
Building and Managing Effective School Systems and Teams
Build and manage effective school systems and teams to support the school's goals and objectives;
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the efficient operation of the school, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation;
Utilize a strong understanding of data analysis to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement;
Demonstrate project management skills to oversee the implementation of major initiatives and programs, ensuring collaboration among teams;
Ensure compliance with regulations related to school operations, establish partnerships with community organizations, and build a strong network of support for the school as a strategic thinker and collaborative leader.
Positive School and Community Culture
Create and maintain a positive school and community culture aligned with the values of the school community;
Develop and implement strategies fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for students, staff, and families;
Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, building positive relationships with stakeholders, including parents, community members, and local organizations;
Utilize conflict resolution skills to address issues constructively and proactively;
Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and responsibility, addressing the social-emotional needs of students by providing support, resources, and opportunities for leadership and engagement.
Requirements
The ideal Principal candidate will have:
A belief in and alignment with the values of Value School;
Expertise in building a positive and collaborative adult culture;
Instructional expertise, including knowledge of Common Core-aligned instruction, student-centered classrooms, differentiated instruction, and supporting diverse learners in an urban setting;
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and cultivate relationships with students and adults;
A commitment to self-reflection and a growth mindset while demonstrating humility and kindness in all interactions;
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
Ability to develop and implement organizational systems and strategies.
Minimum Qualifications
Evidence of agreement with the five core values of Value Schools;
Bachelor's degree or higher/Masters Degree preferred;
Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience with a valid Teaching Credential;
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a school leadership position as a school administrator, preferably an Assistant Principal;
Administration Credential or 1-3 years of training in a valid and approved leadership program.
Benefits
Value Schools provide competitive salaries, which are reviewed every three years. Based on relevant prior work experience and education, our salary range for this role is $120,000 - $160,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Value Schools also participates in the CalSTRS retirement program. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary closer to the start/middle of the range depending on qualifications and internal equity. As such, Value Schools is committed to a no-negotiation policy. More details can be provided upon request.
