Utility Locator
On-Site:
Windsor, New Jersey
Recruiting Heroes is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Utility Locator to join our client's team in Windsor, New Jersey.
Job Summary:
Three step management in training program. After initial training is completed, the utility locator is working under the direction of a field manager and is assigned to worksites to conduct utility locating and surveying for surface, subsurface, and aerial utilities. Uses electronic equipment to locate and mark gas, water, sewer, phone, power, and CATV lines. Monday Friday travel depending on where the work is located.
Job Duties &
Responsibilities:
1. Follow the standard operating procedures for:
a. Field Targeting
i. Locating
ii. Targeting
b. Field Sketching
c. Test Hole Documentation
2. Correct use, technique, and maintenance of the following equipment:
a. Metrotech 810
b. Pipehorn
c. Direct Connect
d. Reading tapes, rulers, and maps
e. Utilivac
f. Air compressor, air tamper, air lance, and jack hammer
3. Follow the administrative procedures:
a. Completing timecard correctly
b. Filing out the vehicle log correctly
c. Filling out credit card reconciliation correctly
4. Complete chapters and chapter tests in the training manual review.
Job Requirements:
General
1. Experience in/willingness to learn technical utility locating.
2. Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions.
3. Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.
4. Ability to work with a variety of personalities.
5. Basic knowledge of surveying best practices/willingness to learn.
6. GPR Utility Locating knowledge and experience/willingness to learn
7. Proficiency in reading maps, records, and plan sets
8. Understanding of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) procedures/willingness and ability to learn
9. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PDF editor
10. Must have good communication skills (verbal and written) and attention to detail
Work Environment
1. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
2. Must be able to work in a confined space.
3. Must be available to work overtime and some weekends &
travel as needed.
Skills &
Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
1. HS Diploma or GED required
2. Applicable Traffic Control Certification/willingness and ability to attain
3. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
4. Must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record
Valued but not required skills and experience:
1. Associate or bachelors degree in related field
2. Knowledge/proficiency of MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Open Roads
3. Knowledge/proficiency of ArcGIS
4. HAZWOPER40 certification
5. OSHA10 or OSHA30
6. Existing First-Aid/CPR certification
