Recruiting Heroes is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Utility Engineer to join our client's team in Atlanta, Georgia
Job Summary:
The Utility Engineer/Project manager is responsible for overseeing multiple projects ensuring that proper data collection, engineering and QA/QC procedures are followed, within their respective assigned territories. This role serves as the project manager and point of contact for all clients/projects under their overview. They play an active role in the development, management, and completion of projects. They plan and monitor work schedules, cash flows, subconsultants, and ensure accurate and timely delivery. Utility Engineer/Project Managers are also engaged in business development activities and must maintain positive relationships with current and potential clients located in their respective territories.
Job Duties &
Responsibilities:
1. Business Development:
work both independently and with InfraMap business development team to identify new opportunities including project detection and teaming opportunities, develop clients, attend conferences, etc.
a. Maintain positive relationships with current and potential clients.
b. Contribute to proposal development.
c. Give presentations to clients, potential clients or at professional events.
2. Project Management:
manage and oversee field operations including scheduling and project management for regional projects.
a. Create, track and update project schedules and budgets as needed.
b. QA/QC review
c. Solicit utility records and utility coordination.
3. Communication among field staff, clients, DOTs, subconsultants, management, etc.
4. Assist in field activities including survey, training, and supervision.
a. Conduct/assist in regional staff training.
5. Prepare project specific proposals and cost estimating.
6. Prepare direct labor and unit price invoicing and maintain office profit margin.
7. Participate in professional associations (local/national) including MDPLS, ASHE, ASCE, UESI, etc.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
General
1. 5+ years experience in SUE, civil engineering, or related field
2. Proficiency in the CI/ASCE 38-02 Standard/willingness to learn.
3. Ability to read and understand maps, records, and prints.
4. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PDF editor
5. Must have good communication skills (verbal and written), attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to read and understand maps, records, and prints.
Work Environment
1. Primarily office environment
2. Travel when needed (some overnight)
3. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions (if/when in field)
4. Must be able to work in a confined space. (if/when in field)
Skills &
Experience:
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelors degree in civil engineering or related field.
2. PE licensure (at least one state) &
willingness to obtain more.
3. At least 5 years experience in management/supervisory role.
4. Familiarity with project management tools and Gantt charts
5. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
6. Must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
7. Must pass a security clearance/background check.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
1. Masters degree in civil engineering or related field
2. Project Manager certification
3. Advanced knowledge/proficiency of MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Open Roads
4. Advanced Knowledge/proficiency of ArcGIS
5. Existing First-Aid/CPR certification
