Transportation Underwriting Manager

How you'll make an impact:
The primary focus is to manage a production team in the underwriting, management, and selling of products offered by binding and brokerage carriers with emphasis on writing new business.
This individual will have production goals assigned and is measured on new business goal attainment.
Manages a team of sales and underwriting support staff responsible for processing the new business production of the incumbent.
Directs support staff in the underwriting of individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
Directs support team on whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.
Develops relationships with contracted brokers.
Works under limited supervision. Orients, trains, assigns and checks the work of lower level reports.

About you:
Required:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
Prior experience managing support staff preferred.
Assignments are broad in nature and usually require originality and ingenuity.
