Technical Writer I Nswc-Ihd (Contingent)

Duties:

Prepare and/or provide editorial and quality assurance for various publications, identification guides, preliminary manuals, specifications, technical reports, training materials, and other technical documentation in accordance with applicable government specifications.
Ensure that technical and visual information (graphics, tables, videos, thumbnails, and super thumbnails) adhere and conform to established writing, editing, and formatting standards.
Coordinate and communicate frequently with various Subject Matter Experts.
Conduct independent research using various databases, websites, and repositories.
Create, maintain, and update bibliographic material.
Collaborate with colleagues and fellow technical writers to ensure consistency through the teams.
Provide additional input and draft proposed changes or recommendations to improve writing standards.
Requirements
An associate degree in technical writing, or other related discipline.
Additional years of work experience may be substituted for a degree.
At least one (1) year of technical writing/editing experience required.
An active DoD Secret clearance is Required. The selected candidate may start with interim secret clearance.
The candidate selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
The candidate selected must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision or guidance from Subject Matter Experts.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
Light to moderate lifting may be required.
Regular, predictable attendance is required;
including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
