Role Overview
As a Senior Federal and State Tax Compliance Analyst, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations. Reporting directly to the U.S. Tax Principal, you will be a key contributor to our tax team's success.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance:
Prepare and reconcile federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns, including estimated payments. Manage state apportionment data, tax credits, and attributes, encompassing all aspects of income tax (including OH CAT), property tax, and sales and use tax compliance.
Tax Provision Preparation:
Collaborate with the global tax team to prepare timely and accurate ASC 740 income tax calculations for U.S. income taxes. Review current and deferred income taxes and effective tax rate inputs.
Accruals Management:
Analyze tax accounts, prepare journal entries, and ensure proper balances. Manage account reconciliations for federal, state, property, franchise, and sales &
use tax accruals.
Tax Planning:
Work with the Tax team to implement strategies that minimize cash and earnings impact of tax expenses. Identify key risks from tax operations for compliance and financial reporting. Conduct research and document conclusions on tax matters.
Audit Assistance:
Prepare information for tax authority requests and coordinate with global tax team members during federal and state income tax, property tax, and sales and use tax audits. Develop and execute audit defense strategies.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or an MBA is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of corporate tax experience (or 3 years with a master's degree) in industry and/or a public accounting firm, with strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local taxation.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in US GAAP ASC 740. Familiarity with SEC regulations is preferred.
