Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our team. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of tax compliance, including preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, extensive knowledge of tax laws, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance:
Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including timely filing and payment of taxes.
Research and interpret tax laws and regulations to resolve tax issues and optimize tax strategies.
Tax Planning:
Assist clients in developing tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize financial efficiency.
Provide tax advice and recommendations to clients on various transactions and business activities.
Analyze financial data to identify tax-saving opportunities and potential risks.
Client Management:
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor on tax matters.
Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information and address tax-related inquiries and concerns.
Collaborate with other professionals, such as attorneys and financial advisors, to provide comprehensive tax solutions to clients.
Audit Support:
Assist clients in preparing for and responding to tax audits by tax authorities.
Represent clients in discussions and negotiations with tax authorities, providing support and documentation as needed.
Tax Research and Analysis:
Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations, and assess their impact on clients' tax positions.
Conduct tax research and analysis on complex tax issues to provide accurate and reliable advice to clients.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
Maintain organized and accurate tax records and documentation to support tax filings and positions.
Prepare and maintain workpapers, schedules, and other supporting documents for tax engagements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
CPA or Enrolled Agent certification preferred.
2+ years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in public accounting or a similar environment.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.G., ProSystem fx, UltraTax) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
