Job Description
Under general supervision, as a Survey Assistant I, you will use safe working practices while operating equipment to perform paraprofessional surveying work in the office or field.
Important and Essential Duties:
As a Survey Assistant I, your duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Serveas a chain person by measuring horizontal distances between points, setsurvey points, recordmeasurements for reference, and actas a recorder to the survey staffwhen needed.
Serve as a rod person by holding a rod or reflector, positioning backsights/targets, monitoring robotic survey equipment, slope, and construction staking as instructed by Survey Assistant II.
Usingmathematical computations, reduce and check field survey notes and provide the survey team with data for further calculations, reports, and information.
Maintain clear lines of sight surrounding the survey equipment by clearing brush and other obstacles in survey lines to enable the survey team to set up the necessary equipment to measure distances and take accurate readings.
Check, clean, and maintaintools and other surveying equipment.
Use related applications to check survey information and maps;
may include the use of AutoCAD and/or Tripod Data System (TDS).
Obtain survey-related documents related to maps and deeds.
Drivea vehicle to work sites to perform survey work.
Working Conditions:
The nature of the work will require some physical effort and manual dexterity occasionally lifting and carrying over 50 pounds andworking in adverse weather or working conditions such as working in streets or roads in heavy traffic, in cold and rain.
