Job Description
Role
Effectively manages personnel, facilities and equipment to provide expert analytical services across the business with the goal of enhancing the Company’s profitability by supporting environmental, quality, operational, and new product development teams.
Accountabilities
Manages day-to-day activities of the Corporate Analytical Services (CAS) group, typically staffed with multiple chemists and one or more hourly technician(s). Coordinates assignment of work to CAS team members in order to optimize productivity and minimize turnaround time.
Performs all work in a safe manner following the Company’s safe working practices and safety management systems. Practices good housekeeping at all times, along with implementation of the Chemical Hygiene Plan. Maintains all facilities, analytical, and computer equipment in top working order.
Prioritizes work across manufacturing facilities and project teams in the company. Plans, supervises and directs chemical and physical analyses, projects and investigations and performs the work necessary to complete the analyses, projects and investigations in a timely manner.
Conducts chemical and physical analyses and prepares customer reports of all work as required, and effectively communicates results to the requesting party. Maintains complete, accurate, and current records of all work completed.
Prepares periodic progress reports regarding efficiency and productivity of CAS. Complies with all applicable environmental laws and regulations.
Manages and assists with the development of the operating budget for the CAS group.
Performs literature and data searches, as appropriate while simultaneously keeping informed of current developments in assigned areas through supplemental reading or external training.
Assists with selection and management of vendors, contractors, or consultants for special projects, as assigned.
Assists with the maintenance of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), as needed.
