Job Description
Under supervision, as a Steamfitter you will perform highly skilled, journey-level duties in altering, maintaining, repairing, inspecting, and installing steam and hydronic heating systems including boilers, pumps, boilers, steam, and hydronic heating piping.Steamfitters work on HVAC installations, troubleshooting, test and balancing, and system analysis, including coils, compressors, chillers, air handers, and heat pump units.
Important and Essential Duties:
Your duties as a Steamfitter may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Alter, maintain, repair, inspectand installthe following:
All piping fixtures, pumps and appurtenances.
All steam or hot water boilers of any type;
pipefitting and any related piping systems including fixtures and/or appurtenances associated with steam plants and/or steam systems;
hot water heating systems connected with high or low pressure steam plants including all piping, fitting and fixtures and/or appurtenances of every description.
All control systems including but not limited to pneumatic, electric, electronic, DDC and related systems;
HVAC systems and all piping fixtures and/or appurtenances of every description associated with it and related equipment.
All types of piping fixtures and/or appurtenances related to all refrigeration systems;
chillers, all chilled water systems;
cooling systems;
and all CFC certification requirements;
cooling towers;
all process piping.
Chemical treatment systems;
air compressors;
expansion tanks;
and oil and gas fired equipment.
Complete an HVAC system analysis.
Complete heating and cooling unit replacement and control upgrades as needed and approved by the clients.
Provide a report on assessments of the building sites with recommendations for the clients with repair or replacement measures needed on the HVAC systems.
Calibrate the thermostats and balance the static pressure to avoid over-pressuring the system.
Review and record proper flow and pressure on the system and fine-tune the equipment.
Performing proper HVAC control review and system checks prior to setting up the testing and balancing of the systems.
Cut, threadand groovesteel pipe;
cut, bevel, fits up andtack welds steel pipe;
solders and brazes copper &
brass pipe and fittings.
Install, replace,and repairpipe covering and insulation.
Makerough sketches and preparematerial list using figure 4 or isometric drawings.
Keeprecords of time spent and work completed.
Usetrade-related hand, power, and pneumatic tools to alter, maintain, repair, inspect and install steam heat and steam power installations and other equipment.
Operatemotor and utility vehicles such as forklifts, scissors lifts, high rangers, andother specialized equipment to move materials to and from work sites.
Liftand moveheavy objects, up to 100 lbs. including equipment, machinery parts and heavy tools to appropriate work areas.
Communicatewith individuals including supervisors regarding steam fitting operations and procedures.
