Staff Theatre Technical Assistant Specialist 2

This is considered a part-time &
short term (summer only), hourly, non-benefits eligible position. The minimum starting rate for the position is $18.63 per hour.
Assist in all areas of theatre production except costumes.
Assist technical director in supervising and managing student technical production assistants.
Construct scenery
Assist light hang/focus including operating counterweight systems
Supervise students working in theatre spaces and shops.
Provide technical and design support for Summer Language School plays in Wright and Seeler theatres.
Assist with maintenance of department equipment and facilities.
Requirements
Knowledge of standard theatrical production practices including scenic carpentry, electrical work, rigging, sewing, painting, and welding.
Comfortable setting up, moving, and working on ladders, lifts, scaffolding and catwalks
Ability to work on technical and creative projects requiring problem solving and creative thinking.
Comfortable teaching and supervising students
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Position requires the ability to move heavy objects;
climb ladders and work at heights. Schedule includes nights and weekends around technical rehearsals and performances.
Working conditions include office work include office work, theatres and scene shops, multiple staircases, small spaces, and storage spaces inhabited by rodents.
