Position Summary

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), provide high-level technical support, guidance, and expertise in information systems technologies to end-users, manufacturing operations, and junior IT analysts at the Downer's Grove and Aurora Bearing facilities. Lead the administration and maintenance of networks, servers, applications, and hardware across both sites, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with corporate IT structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary SME for IT systems and infrastructure at the Downers Grove and Aurora Bearing facilities, providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior IT analysts
  • Deliver advanced end-user support and strategic guidance on the use of technology tools and systems
  • Oversee and optimize network communications between the plants and corporate office
  • Manage and maintain critical plant-level applications and systems, including SPC, Active Directory, Production Servers, VMware, Veeam, LAN/WAN, Shop Floor DNC, GE/Fanuc/iFIX applications, Andon SFV Systems, SAP MII, MON IT Systems Databases, Terminal Server, and others
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner
  • Ensure strict compliance with company policies related to user access, system backup, disaster recovery, and regulatory requirements
  • Drive business projects and process improvements across functional groups, leveraging technology and facility design to enhance business/distribution operations
  • Manage and coordinate high-impact IT projects, including scope, timing, cost, and stakeholder communication
  • Oversee the utilization of the corporate ticketing system to log, track, and document all support requests and incidents
  • Develop and implement standard regional processes and procedures for IT support and maintenance activities in alignment with corporate IT structure
  • Travel between Downer's Grove and Aurora Bearing facilities (approximately 30 minutes apart) as needed to support site-specific requirements
  • Occasional regional (US) travel may be required to other plant sites within the US grouping

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an IT SME with advanced technical and troubleshooting skills in IT systems, networks, and applications
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities
  • In-depth understanding of business processes and systems integration
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Outstanding leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
  • Adaptable to changing environments with a passion for continuous learning and improvement
  • Proficiency in IT ticketing systems and service desk operations management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate IT policies, standards, and regional support processes

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field with 5-7 years of relevant experience

OR Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field with 3-5 years of relevant experience

  • Relevant certifications (e.G., ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) are highly desirable
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder

Work Location and Travel

  • This is an on-site position, with the selected candidate working out of both the Downers Grove and Aurora Bearing facilities based on site needs on a week-to-week basis
  • Regular travel between the two facilities (approximately 30 minutes apart) is required
  • Occasional regional (US) travel to other plant sites within the US grouping may be necessary
