JOB SUMMARY
This Senior Director role leads Adare’s Global Procurement, including development of strategy, target setting, planning, execution, and reporting. As such, the role combines elements of strategy, policy, operations, team management and development, advocacy, and support for working groups against the delivery and reporting of targets aligned with business goals. The Senior Director of Global Procurement is responsible for overseeing all aspects of purchasing from sourcing raw materials to negotiating deals with suppliers, by managing a team based in US and EU and a team of buyers who work directly with vendors to source products and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
Contributing to evolution of Adare’s Global Procurement strategy, in consultation with VP, Global Procurement &
Supply Chain for sourcing products and aligning it to Adare’s Business strategy, including identifying potential suppliers, assessing their capabilities, and managing the procurement process
Leading direct and indirect procurement value capture, through price benchmarking analysis and supplier discovery
Contributing to evolution of Adare’s Sustainable Procurement strategy, in consultation with ESG, Global Director and VP, Global Procurement and Supply Chain
Liaising with external Purchasing Groups, and finding saving opportunities
Ensuring compliance with Adare’s procurement requirements in the selection of contractors, concessionaires, consultants, and individuals providing goods or services
Developing and implementing purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
Representing Adare in negotiating contracts with suppliers
Overseeing the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials
Ensuring requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment are processed in a timely manner
Resolving vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers
Directing and coordinating activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, and supplies
Negotiating prices with vendors to ensure the best value for money while maintaining profitability for the organization
Overseeing material procurement activities, including ordering materials from suppliers and reviewing invoices to ensure accuracy
Reviewing bids from potential suppliers of goods and services, and makes purchase decisions based on price, quality, and other factors
Creating a list of suppliers based on their ability to meet the needs of the business, and monitoring existing suppliers to ensure that they continue to provide high-quality products or services
Coordinating with accounting staff to ensure that invoices are paid promptly
Reviewing supplier contracts to make sure they comply with legal requirements and industry standards
Reviewing purchase orders to make sure that orders are complete and accurately specified
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Supply Chain Management and 10+ years of related experience required. Knowledge of economics, accounting, business law, business communication and statistics.
10+ years of experience in a procurement role, as a buyer, purchasing agent or procurement manager, in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, education or government.
Experience in Supply Chain Management a plus
Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred
Experience leading teams, directly and indirectly
Proven ability to communicate with suppliers and other stakeholders to reach mutually beneficial agreements. Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable prices for goods and services
Analytical skills to assess a situation and determine the best course of action and the best way to meet company’s needs.
Strategic thinking to consider the long-term effects of actions and to make decisions that affect the company’s financial stability in the best interest of the company.
Leadership skills to oversee and effectively lead a global team of procurement professionals. Ability to delegate tasks, provide constructive feedback and motivate the team to work hard.
Proven experience of Sustainable Procurement practices
Advanced skills in writing and report preparation are required
Ability to work with all levels of the organization to change, build trust and credibility quickly
Ability to drive changes
DMAIC approach for managing complex projects
Proficient in Microsoft Office including advanced skills in Excel
Intermediate to advanced skills with the following applications preferred:
Microsoft AX
SAP
Ability to accommodate up to 10% travel
