Sr. Associate, Operational Risk (Corporate Functions Oversight)Dallas, United States of AmericaThe Sr. Associate, Operational Risk (Corporate Functions Oversight) role will be responsible for the strategic development, maintenance, implementation, and execution of second line oversight activities of the Operational Risk (OR) programs for Corporate Functions (Finance, Risk, HR and Legal). This includes effective review and challenge and on-going monitoring of key operational risk program elements, such as:
risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs) and attestations, key risk indicators (KRIs), issue identification and event escalations, remediation and risk acceptances, internal and external losses, business impact assessments, scenario analysis, training and reporting. Overall, this role will assist in the ongoing oversight of Operational Risk (OR) Framework in support of the first line of defense activities. This includes support of the creation, management, and development or enhancements of OR program strategy, policies, standards, and models.

Specific duties will include the following with respect to the oversight activities of Corporate Functions:

Update and execute the Monitoring, Testing &
Oversight (MTO) plan.

Analyze and measure performance, including monitoring trends, limits, and exposures in accordance with Risk Appetite. This includes adequate review and challenge of KRIs, documentation, thresholds, RCSA linkage, monitoring and reporting, annual metric review, changes to the metric inventory, and breach management and escalation.

Consider emerging issues and external events and tailor the MTO plan or review and challenge / oversight activities accordingly.

Evaluate escalated issues and events and provide material review and challenge comments, when necessary. This includes thorough review of mitigating action plans established and their execution / closure, particularly for those deemed critical or high risk.

Assess FLOD thematic analysis on issues, repeat events, etc.

Review and challenge material changes in business processes, products, or services.

Participate in RCSA walk-throughs and provide credible review and challenge on changes to the overall inventory and final results.

Stay apprised of upcoming audits or regulatory engagements and where feasible, ensure applicable review and challenge activities occur prior to kick-off.

Contribute to escalation, reporting, and communication to Risk Governance Forums.

Help drive a culture of risk awareness.

Participate in the creation and delivery of OR business-tailored training.

Ensure adherence to the policies and procedures established by the company.

Monitor and escalate any material concerns regarding risk/exposure and compliance with the OR policies, standards, and guidelines.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or equivalent field.

Work Experience:
9+ years in Risk Management in Financial Services Industry

Strong operational risk management principles, methodologies and tools, governance principles and activity preferably in a financial services / banking environment.
Knowledge of workflow/processes and risks/controls, including (if applicable):
origination, underwriting, servicing, and collections/workout.

Ability to independently operate in a complex, matrixed environment;
adept at delivering andmaintaining productive working relationships across business functions, geographies and lines of defense.

Advanced operational risk, process, and control validation and/or assessment skills.

Ability to direct, train and guide other risk management professionals and effectively communicate feedback and provide sound advice to management.

Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups to ensure appropriate policies, standard and guidance is followed.

Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.

Ability to convey a sense of urgency and drive issues/projects to closure.

Ability to effectively interact with the market, executive management and vendors.

Ability to adapt and adjust to multiple demands and competing priorities.

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.

Salary:
$112,500 - $160,000/year
