What we do:

The Sr. Aircraft Electrical Power Systems Engineer is responsible for building our power management capabilities from the ground up and assisting in developing and tracking power properties to aid with electrical loads/voltage drop development, electrical wiring interconnect system (EWIS) development, aircraft performance trade studies, cost, and more. This position requires an experienced professional with expertise in power analysis/budgeting and control during various phases of aircraft design/development to certification. This position reports to the Head of Systems Engineering and provides technical solutions/guidance for the entire engineering team.

What you can do:

Leads and participates in system-level trades to ensure the vehicle design meets all physical, electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements while accommodating the required payload, power, propulsion, thermal, communications, and attitude control system requirements
Perform electrical system architecture, design and analysis
Conduct advanced design power estimation to develop preliminary power estimates to support advanced design proposals, prototyping efforts, trade studies, etc.
Perform estimation, calculation, and develop methods of measurement for verification of power requirements for LRUs, components, assemblies, and complete systems.
Develop the analysis methods and tools for power management
Estimate, calculate, and verify mass properties of LRUs, components, assemblies, and complete systems in support of trade studies and drawing/component release
Manage/perform testing of aircraft wiring harness including bonding and grounding
Work with the broader engineering team to conduct multi-disciplinary trade studies to guide through design decisions
Generate and maintain power reports to key stakeholders of various cross-functional teams
Develop, support, and execute test plans to verify power properties (voltage drops, current distribution, on/off power timing, power quality, etc.)
Track, maintain, and own power distribution inside a database
Partner with PMO organization to execute build plan
Requires up to 10% of domestic and international travel
Other duties as assigned

What you can contribute:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, physics, or related engineering field required
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a power management engineer in an aerospace organization (an equivalent combination of education experience may be considered)
Experience working on aircraft electrical systems (ATA24)
Experience working with high voltage DC systems
Experience working with aircraft 28VDC systems
Experience with flight critical aircraft systems
Experience developing and maintaining a Power Management and Control Plan
Experience with supplier/vendor requirements, monitoring, and weight control
Experience with technical disciplines and principles of structures, aerodynamics, propulsions, avionics, interiors, flight test, manufacturing
Experience with aircraft conceptual design
Experience with electric propulsion air or ground vehicles
Experience with high-rate automotive manufacturing preferred
Experience with FAA or EASA certification process part (23/25/27/29)
Experience working with regulatory agencies
Experience in aircraft (OEM) level systems engineering
Experience in CATIA V5/V6
Knowledge of Cable Bundle Design, Wire Harness Design, Wire routing and Sizing Power Distribution, Voltage Conversion and Redundancy
Ability to perform Power Budget and Voltage Drop Analysis
Knowledge of Aerospace Connectors and EMI Cable Shielding
Electrical Interconnect Design to Aerospace Standards
Knowledge of EWIS aerospace standards/ requirements definition
Knowledge of Aircraft EMI / EMC Design and Testing for Composite Airframe
Familiarity with ATA100, or predecessors
Knowledge of a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software such as 3D Experience
Proficiency with Jira (Agile tool)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is:
$180,100—$218,300 USD
