Futurex is seeking a team-oriented individual to fill the position of Solutions Architect Intern. This position is on-site at Futurex’s Engineering Campus in Bulverde, 15 miles north of San Antonio, Texas. The ideal candidate will solve moderately complex problems concerning Futurex's embedded, cross-platform data encryption and transaction processing solutions, including hardware, firmware, and applications. This involves the ability to quickly solve problems concerning mission critical systems. Some scripting will be necessary in order to duplicate a problem that stems from a complex task. The candidate will also be involved in the process of creating and updating product documentation and performing tasks vital to the testing and Quality Assurance of new firmware and application releases.
The qualified candidate must be willing to work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The candidate must have superior problem-solving skills which allow for quick and independently-found solutions.
The qualified candidate should possess the ability to process information logically, to interact with customers using superior communications skills, to test computer programs, to interpret technical information relating to computer applications and other areas of data processing, and to respond to requests from several different areas of the company in a flexible manner.
This internship is designed to provide students with real-world experience and knowledge of the Futurex solutions suite with the goal of creating a full-time career opportunity upon graduation. Depending on the skill set and desires of the intern, this position may adapt to address individual departmental needs within the areas of sales, support, production, engineering, and marketing.
This position offers an opportunity for skilled individuals to expand their talents by participating directly in the development of production hardware/software/firmware. Individual visibility within the team is high, and opportunities for rapid advancement exist. This position includes a generous compensation package.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Test and troubleshoot new and existing hardware, software, and firmware developed for the financial transaction market
Write and maintain documentation released to the public
Analyze and solve problems involving Futurex's line of embedded, cross-platform transaction processing products and applications
Understand industry-specific APIs and protocols used when interfacing with external systems
Recreate customer-specific problems
Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored, or accessed
Develop and present comprehensive customer solutions based on diverse and varying requirements
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Flexibility to assist in several different departments of the company
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills
Motivated, self-starting, and eager to learn
Broad technical background
STRONGLY PREFER
Technical and/or Business degree path
Experience with TCP/IP networking
Experience with multiple architectures and platforms
Experience with Linux, OpenSSL, scripting (Python, Perl, Bash)
Experience with sales, technical support, or quality assurance
