This role will support the agile development of innovative communications, networking, and computing solutions for U.S. defense agencies that improve the sharing of information among warfighters distributed throughout airborne, maritime, and ground environments.
Provide technical leadership in System Software Engineering for leading edge wireless communications system development ensuring our software adheres to architectural best practices and is efficient, cybersecure, maintainable, scalable, and repeatable.
Provide coherent software architectural design for large-scale, embedded tactical applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and drive architectural decisions.
Create prototypes and proof of concepts to validate architectural designs and assess technical feasibility.
Maintain relevancy with emerging technologies (including hardware) and evaluate their potential impact on our software architecture and development processes.
Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the software development lifecycle.
Provide oversight for architectural designs, decisions, and technical specifications to ensure clarity and maintainability of the software systems.
Mentor and coach junior developers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Maintain and drive forward the current Fuse technical software portfolio consisting of modern C++, python, CMake, Javascript, React to create an optimized wireless networking solution for the DoD
Leverage your deep understanding of all layers of tactical communications solutions including application layer (track management and communications applications), network layer (routing and IP), and physical layer (radios and encryptors).
Requirements
We are looking for:
B.S. in an engineering field (Computer, Software, Math, Physics, Electrical, etc.)
8-10 years of experience in leadership roles in software development
Solid understanding of all OSI layers of networking technologies from the application layer to the physical layer
Profound interest in communications technology development in challenging RF and compute environments
Hands on experience writing and deploying C++ 11 (or greater) for complex systems and processes
Familiarity with agile development process
Ability to obtain US Secret clearance
Must be a nimble self-starter who is excited about technology and has the ability to think out of the box and suggest powerful new ideas
Nice to have:
Embedded system development
Deep understanding of Linux networking and network troubleshooting
Experience with Ansible, Kubernetes, microservice/mesh architectures, gitlab flow software development
Experience with STIG compliance and security applications
Solid Linux OS knowledge:
CentOS/RHEL, RPM, UNIX build process
Experience with Jenkins and Gitlab CI/CD
