In this role, you will utilize CAD equipment to craft comprehensive layouts of fire sprinkler systems, ensuring adherence to all necessary specifications and codes. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire design process, from initial sketches to final submittals and project management. Responsibilities
Design Development:
Utilize CAD equipment to produce detailed layouts, assembly drawings, and sketches of fire sprinkler systems, incorporating all essential views and dimensions for seamless field installation.
Ensure compliance with NFPA, local, and state codes, as well as project specifications and contract documents.
Conduct accurate field surveys as required, contributing to the development of precise shop drawings and hydraulic calculations.
Collaborate with the MEP team and General Contractors to coordinate shop drawings and streamline project execution.
Prepare and manage submittal packages, securing approvals from relevant authorities.
Project Management:
Oversee the procurement of materials, review draft change orders, and generate RFIs to maintain project schedules and budgets.
Serve as a central point of contact, liaising with field personnel, AHJs, customers, sales representatives, and field superintendents to facilitate smooth project progression.
Retain full accountability for project approvals, material procurement, coordination, and scheduling, ensuring timely completion and delivery.
Actively participate in project-related meetings, providing valuable insights and updates as necessary.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and ASIs.
Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude, with the ability to perform hydraulic calculations and stocklisting accurately.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, as well as AutoCAD and Fire Sprinkler Design software (e.G., AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD).
Practical experience designing Wet, Dry, and Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems for installation.
Familiarity with general construction practices and terminology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with a proven ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 13D, 13R, 14, 20, and associated Codes/Standards.
