Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Senior Grower Accountant to lead our financial operations related to agricultural production. The Senior Grower Accountant will play a crucial role in managing grower relationships, optimizing financial processes, and providing valuable insights to drive business growth. Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies and policies related to agricultural operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process for agricultural production, including crop planning, labor costs, input expenses, and revenue projections.
Manage grower contracts and relationships, negotiating terms and agreements to maximize profitability and ensure compliance with financial obligations.
Analyze grower performance and financial metrics, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and revenue enhancement.
Develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools to support decision-making and strategic planning initiatives.
Provide leadership and guidance to the grower accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and sales, to optimize production processes and maximize financial performance.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to agricultural accounting and reporting.
Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to senior management, highlighting key insights, trends, and opportunities.
Lead year-end financial audit processes, liaising with external auditors and providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting agricultural accounting practices, and make recommendations accordingly.
Serve as a key point of contact for growers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing financial guidance and support as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, or related field;
Master's degree or CPA certification preferred.
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on agricultural accounting and financial management.
In-depth knowledge of agricultural accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve common goals.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with growers, senior management, and cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.G., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
Experience with agricultural production processes, crop management, and grower contracting is highly desirable.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
Willingness to travel as needed to meet with growers and visit production facilities
