Position Summary
Medical Advancement atWashU Medicine is developing a best-in-class grateful patient donorprogram and has created an exciting new opportunity to continue tobuild upon its recent success. The Sr. Director of DonorParticipation and Pipeline Development will provide long termstrategic direction, analysis, and support to engage and inspirethe patient constituency to invest in WashU Medicine. Reporting tothe Assistant Vice Chancellor for Medical Advancement, the SeniorDirector will play an integral role in continuing to develop Officeof Medical Advancement’s comprehensive grateful patientprogram.

Job Description
Primary Duties&
Responsibilities

Creates and executes comprehensive grateful patient donoracquisition program.
Provides strategic leadership for broad fundraising, marketing,and digital strategies to acquire donors from the WashU Medicinepatient population with the goal of growing a major gift donorpipeline.
Partners with key WashU Medicine internal stakeholders todevelop compelling and inspiring strategic fundraising plans todeepen the engagement of and investment from Wash U Medicine’sgrateful patients.
Leads the content creation and development of fundraisinginitiatives and manages production and execution of materials totargeted audiences to increase patient engagement and investment inWash U Medicine.
Drives and executes online fundraising for multiple platforms,based on goals, donor mindset, brand guidelines, and fundraisingpriorities.
Collaborates within Medical Advancement, across UniversityAdvancement, and with partners at WashU Medicine in the followingcritical areas:

In concert with UA’s Business Intelligence Unit (BI),strategically generates lists of grateful patient audiences foroutreach and solicitations.
In coordination with the units of Medical AdvancementAdministration and Strategic Engagement, develops and executes asystem for a seamless transition of annual giving patient donorswith a highly rated gift capacity into portfolios of major giftofficers for further qualification and engagement.
Partnering with the BI Data Analytics Team, create robust datamodels and algorithms to inform strategies and drive greatersuccess in future acquisition efforts.

Collaborates with the WashU Medicine Marketing andCommunications team to leverage impact of existing marketingcampaign language and content.
In coordination with the Vice Chancellor and Assistant ViceChancellor for Medical Advancement, creates and defines measures ofsuccess and develops a comprehensive tracking system to review andanalyze various forms of data and analytics for reporting andidentification of new growth opportunities.
Reviews marketing research and identifies new opportunities forgrowth and development, while staying abreast of latest trends inmarketing, video, social media, and digital strategies acrossuniversity, academic medical center and for profit-sectors.
Implements existing program policies including HIPAA complianceand standardization of opt-out protocols. Leads proposed updates tothese policies in conjunction with key stakeholders includingBusiness Intelligence, WashU Physicians Program, WashU MedicineMarketing &
Communications, Advancement Communications, andWashU Compliance.
Manages Assistant Director, focused on grateful patientacquisition efforts for Medical Advancement and Siteman CancerCenter.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of professional experience in a large-scalemulti-channel annual giving program in higher education or anacademic medical center, in journalism, communications andmarketing, non-profit, or related environment.
Successful candidates will possess strong multichannel directmarketing skills.
Experience in digital storytelling and design, philanthropic,advancement, donor recognition, alumni engagement, non-profit, or auniversity setting.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solvingskills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyand navigate a complex work environment.
Commitment to delivering excellent customer service, theability to work independently as well as collaboratively, andcomfort working with ambiguity.
Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment toconfidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.
Master’s level degree.
Strong ability in time management and organization, withexcellent oral and written communication skills, and adept in ateam-oriented environment of colleagues and volunteers.
Ability to meet multiple deadlines under pressure.
Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
Ability to articulate the needs, interests, and accomplishmentsof Siteman to a wide range of audiences.
Perform in an intellectually rigorous and complex environment,exhibit personal characteristics enabling effective interactionwith important constituencies, and possess a genuine commitment tothe advancement of science and science education and to theprinciples governing Washington University and Siteman CancerCenter.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.
Six years of related experience.
