About the role:
The visionary Senior Director of Data Platforms will lead the creation and management of our cloud-based data platform leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Snowflake. The successful candidate will own the end-to-end architecture, design, and deployment of our data infrastructure and will be instrumental in defining and implementing the tools and technologies used by our development teams for infrastructure automation, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), data analysis, machine learning, and data visualization. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep technical background and strong leadership skills to drive our data capability forward.
What you will be doing:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the company’s cloud-based data platform.
Collaborate with senior leadership to align data platform initiatives with business goals and objectives.
Data Platform Development:
Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable and secure data infrastructure.
Oversee data ingestion, integration, storage, and processing solutions to ensure robust data management and accessibility.
Ensure the data platform supports advanced analytics, machine learning, and data visualization needs.
Technology Ownership:
Own and manage the tooling and technologies for CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless deployment and integration.
Implement best practices and tools for data analysis, machine learning model development, and data visualization.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the data platform.
Team Leadership:
Build and lead a high-performing team of data architects, data engineers, and DevOps engineers.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance on career growth and development.
Operational Excellence:
Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the data platform.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the data platform.
Drive the adoption of data governance and data quality best practices.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Business Intelligence, to understand data needs and deliver solutions. -
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Act as the primary point of contact for all data platform-related initiatives and projects
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
Minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field.
Experience in the Payments, Banking or Financial Services industry
Proven experiencing managing project delivery and departmental budgets
Proven experience in leading the design and implementation of large-scale data platforms using AWS and Snowflake.
Strong background in CI/CD, data analysis, machine learning, and data visualization technologies and tools.
Previous leadership experience with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams
Deep understanding of cloud-based data platforms and architectures.
Proficiency in AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Lambda, EMR, and Glue.
Expertise in Snowflake data warehousing solutions.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.G., Jenkins), data analysis tools (e.G., SQL, Python, R), machine learning frameworks (e.G., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and visualization tools (e.G., Tableau, Power BI).
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent leadership and people management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
