Job Description
This position is primarily responsible for overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions as well as reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures. The Senior Accountant's duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks. The Senior Accountant will take ownership for every aspect that goes into producing the organization’s reports, from cost-productivity and margins to expenditures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following.
Monitor bookkeeping activities regularly and oversee AP and AR, maintaining the GL
Identifying and investigating variances and resolving issues
Oversee and manage ledger reconciliation, month-end end and year-end
Review accounting policies and improve procedures
Perform regular, detailed audits to ensure accuracy in financial documents, expenditures, and investments and ensure compliance
Analyze transactions and prepare financial reports
Keep company financial information confidential
Organize and update financial records as needed (digital and physical)
Forecast revenue and expenses, analyze profit margins
Preparing financials and financial data for year-end and tax return
Participate in budgeting processes
Liaise with CPA, make tax payments, track returns
Stay informed on industry developments and changes in regulations
Preparing and filing tax documents (property tax report;
oversee sales tax reports)
Review financial statements
Providing internal assistance for questions reg. accounting rules, internal procedures, and processes
Implementation and integration of new systems into ERP
Research and answer simple tax questions
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for the performance of all accounting department employees, providing guidance and direction for their daily tasks.

FLSA STATUS:

Exempt position - Exempt employees are expected to be available during the normal workday, but their compensation is not determined by the number of hours they work. Exempt positions typically require a minimum of 40 hours per week, but exempt employees are not entitled to overtime pay.
POSITION TYPE/BUSINESS HOURS:
This is a full-time exempt position, and hours of business operations are Monday through Friday, 8:
00 a.M. to 4:
30 p.M.
LOCATION:

This position is located at our US headquarters in Branford, CT.
TRAVEL:
This position requires up to 0% travel.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
B.S. degree in accounting or finance. A CPA background is a plus but not required.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Knowledge of all financial mathematics including basic arithmetic operations, algebra, percentages, and statistics.
REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:
Experience with accounting software
Advanced MS Excel knowledge (familiarity with formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables)
Knowledge of PowerPoint
