The Nuclear, Waste, and Site Services (NWS) Division is requesting support a Safety Basis Analyst IV, to provide safety analysis and continuous support for the safety basis documents for Argonne Hazard Category (HC) 2 and 3 nuclear facilities, and hazard analyses for radiological (less than HC-3 nuclear) facilities. This job will likely entail one or both candidates preparing/revising Safety Analysis Documents (SADs) and Accelerator Safety Envelope (ASE) documents to meet the latest DOE Accelerator Safety Order. USQ Experience desired. These activities will be performed mostly remotely, with occasional trips to Argonne National Laboratory.
This job will likely entail preparing/revising Safety Analysis Documents (SADs) and Accelerator Safety Envelope (ASE) documents to meet the latest DOE Accelerator Safety Order. USQ Experience desired. These activities will be performed mostly remotely, with occasional trips to Argonne National Laboratory. Anticipated one week every two months onsite travel (part-time travel).
All work will be performed under Argonne’s Quality Assurance Program. All work will be reviewed and approved by Argonne Management. The Technical Representative will inspect work to confirm that deliverables meet SOW requirements.
Requirements
*Bachelor's of Engineering degree with 10 + years of experience required.
Comprehensive knowledge required of federal regulations and DOE requirements, guides, and standards for the preparation and maintenance of the safety bases for nuclear facilities, including but not limited to documented safety analyses, technical safety requirements, the unreviewed safety question process, safety assessments documents, and hazard analyses for radiological facilities.
Comprehensive skills required in applying analytical approaches and techniques used in safety evaluations for multiple facilities and operations;
interpreting and integrating results into safety basis documents;
and oral and written communication of results.
Comprehensive knowledge required in the use of analytical methods for hazards and risk assessment, failure analysis, and radiological and chemical release consequence evaluation.
Considerable knowledge required of nuclear technology safety standards and practices;
radiological materials use and controls;
nuclear technology accident phenomenology;
experimental tools and techniques;
and nuclear criticalitysafety
