Job Purpose:
Registered nurse renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. Provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care.

Education

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred)

Knowledgeable about hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards and utilizes these when providing nursing care.

Work Experience:

Job Description Addendums

Nurse Fellows will be required to sign a Nurse Fellowship Program commitment which details the expectations for the residency program.

All Staff Nurse Fellows are required to submit to Human Resources a current Texas Registered Nurse license prior to the deadline for attending orientation.

All Staff Nurse Fellows are required to submit to Human Resources a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS card before the deadline to attend orientation.

All Staff Nurse Fellows will complete the ACLS certification class during the fellowship. You must submit to Human Resources a copy of the current ACLS card upon completion of the class.

Staff Nurse Fellows in the Emergency Department and the Surgical Services (OR) department will complete the PALS certification class during the fellowship. You must submit to Human Resources a copy of the current PALS card upon completion of the class.

Staff Nurse Fellows in the Emergency Department will complete the TNCC (Trauma) class during the first 12 months from date residency begins. You must submit to Human Resources a copy of the current TNCC card upon completion of the class.

Staff Nurse Fellows in the Maternal Child Nursing (MCN) will complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) during the fellowship. You must submit to Human Resources a copy of the current NRP card upon completion of the class.

Upon completion of the residency program you must come to Human Resources to sign a Staff Nurse job description and get your photo ID badge changed to a Registered Nurse badge.

Throughout your career as a Registered Nurse with Methodist Health System you must submit to Human Resources a current copy of all required license and certifications prior to the expiration date of each license/certification.
