Registered Nurse (RN) - Employee Health

SOVAH Danville

Position Summary:

· Provides and promotes employee health programs to employees, physicians, volunteers and students. Supports the worker’s compensation program and OSHA log for Sovah Health Danville.

· Performs post offer/pre-employment evaluations, including phlebotomy, vital signs, N95 respirator fit tests, tuberculin skin test (TST)urine drug screen collections and color blindness tests.

· Makes referrals and schedules appointments as needed for Occupational Health Physician to determine ability to perform essential functions of job for new hires.

· Conducts immunization titers testing and provides vaccines per standing orders/protocols.

· Administers annual tuberculin skin test (TST) to employees, physicians, volunteers, students per policy.

· Collects urine for reasonable cause/ post accident drug tests and/or alcohol test (if certified) per hospital’s policy and procedure.

· Provides evaluation, treatment and counseling of work-related injuries and illnesses;
provides health and safety education to employees.

· Helps submit Worker’s Compensation claims to Insurance Carrier and maintain OSHA log.

· Documents and maintains employee’s health records in a confidential manner. (Hard copy and electronic);
provides health and safety education to employees.

· Calibrates and operates PortaCount machine daily.

· Assess and makes recommendations for sick employees/students/volunteers;
performs return to workevaluations.

· Performs clerical duties (i.E. filing, printing, copying, mailing, faxing).

· Initiates and coordinates completion of corrective actions in response to identified safety and health problems.

· Prepares reports of employee health and safety information;
monitors communicable diseases sick call line.

· Audits charts and do monthly inventories of vaccines and medications.

· Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

· Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required

· RN licensure by the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact state required

· Phlebotomy, computer proficiency, ability to operate PortaCount machine for N95 fit testing.

· Two (2) years of nursing experience required

· Previous experience in Employee Health or Occupational Health preferred
