Job Title:
Qualified Mental Health Professional- Child (QMHP-C)
Reports To/Supervisor:
Licensed Professional Counselor
Qualifications:
At minimum a bachelor's degree in a human services, or related field with at least one-year clinical experience providing direct services to children/adolescents with a mentalhealth diagnosis;
or
Clinical experience means providing direct clinical services to children and adolescentswith mental illness. It includes supervised internships, practicums, and field experience.
A human services field is defined as social work, psychology, sociology, or counselinghave a social work bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or universitywith at least one year of clinical experience with children or adolescents
Registered with the Board of Counseling as a Qualified Mental Health Professional-
Child (QMHP-C) and/or Qualified Mental Health Professional-Eligible (QMHP-E) per
The Virginia Board of Counseling regulations or be qualified to apply for the license.
Possesses a valid state driver's license and proof of adequate vehicle insurance.
First aid and CPR certifications
Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Duties may include, but are not limited to, thefollowing:
Serves as a positive role model for children/adolescents and adults to observe and learnsocially effective values, attitudes and behaviors, and contributes to formulation andimplementation of the treatment plan
Provide intensive in-home, crisis-oriented counseling and case management to youthsand their families.
Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times while performing the duties of in-home counselor
Work with clients to foster the development of new improved coping, problem solving,and communication skills, case management, etc. and any goals as directly related to theclient individualized service plan.
Develop· individualized service plans in conjunction with referring agencies, other socialservices professionals, and any stakeholder directly involved the care of the youths andtheir families served.
Implement service plans and monitor progress.
Develop quarterlies reports and discharge reports
Collaborate with LMHPs and Case Manager to develop KEPro for continued stay forclients served
Educate family members regarding existing community services, and act as an advocatein connecting family members to these services.
Respond, or arrange for a response to calls on "
Family crisis,"
on a 24-hour, seven days aweek basis.
Maintain up-to-date client records, and prepare the necessary reports in a timely andaccurate manner.
Participate in clinical supervision sessions on a regular basis.
Conduct or participate in case reviews and staffing as required.
Attend court when necessary and maintain close coordination with referring agencies ona regular basis
Attend other appointments when necessary such as Doctors (Physicals),
Psychological/Psychiatric appointments, IEP meetings, etc.
Work collaboratively with other stakeholders such as FAPT team members, School
Officials, Social Workers, Probation Officers, etc.
Establish a good working relationship with other public and private agencies/services,and interface collaboratively with them and document it in the client Contact Sheets
Support Service Director and Case Manager as required.
Assume self-empowerment, when applicable, to solve problems and act on opportunities,but maintain good communication with supervisor to be sure of the appropriateness of theactions taken.
Promote and market the company through vendor fairs, community events, etc.
Provide emergency on-call coverage in rotation with other team members as needed. Thismay involve both phone work and in-person contact over a 24 hour period.
Maintain required records accurately, comprehensively and in a timely manner. Keepsrequired consumer data up to date and submits paperwork as per program policy.
Participate fully as a member of the team in staffing and other meetings, offering relevantinput and feedback and accepting such from other team members.
Cooperate with, participates in and supports the adherence to all internal policies,procedures and practices, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Work in a collaborative and collegial manner with other staff, both intra- and inter-agency in assisting both the program's clients and the program to meet identified goals.
Insure the confidentiality of all client and/or employee-related information.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to listen effectively;
knowledge of child and adolescent development;
knowledge offactors which may contribute to family dysfunction;
knowledge of behavioralmanagementtechniques;
general knowledge of community resources and services;
knowledge of crisisintervention strategies;
good problem solving skills;
ability to maintain effective workingrelationship with other social services providers, service purchasers, and clients;
ability tocommunicate effectively both orally and in writing
