Position Description:
The Program Delivery and Support unit is seeking to hire a Project Manager to deliver zero emission related projects including vehicle procurement, charging infrastructure, yard management, telematics, and smart charging.
The Project Manager will have extensive technical competency of the projects related to BEB technology, charging infrastructure technology, onboard systems, and is expected to work cross-functionally with engineers, consultants, vendors, and installers to deliver transit technology projects in their complete scope, within budget and adherence to schedule. The Project Manager may be responsible for a number of projects, but a significant portion of this position's time will be spent in management of projects that meet the criteria below.
It is highly desirable that the candidate possess strong written and communications skills to collaborate successfully with the SFMTA Board, MTA Executive Team, Transit Division Senior Management, Operations and Maintenance Team, Technology Solution and Integration Team, MTA Legal Team, Government Affairs, Communications Team, Peer Transit Agencies, and Federal and State Agencies.
Examples of Important and Essential Duties:
Leads Junior and Assistant Engineers to prepare cost estimates, scope, schedule, and overall project budget.
Manages vehicle procurement projects;
works with IT, Transit Technology, and various systems providers to deploy and manage onboard vehicle projects such as CAD/AVL, ITS (Intelligent Transportation System), video surveillance, traffic signal priority systems, destination signs, passenger counters, customer information systems, vehicle telematics, and autonomous vehicle systems.
Plays a role in the organization of zero emission transition by coordinating all required transitional activities.
Writes memos, recommendations and talking points for various items related to trolleys and zero emission transition.
Helps with the development of 5-year and 20-year CIP for fleet electrification.
Works with the communication team to communicate SFMTA’s transition plan internally/externally.
Works with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project. Ensures that the project meets or exceeds the goals established in these plans.
Prepares documents, including advertisement for bids, instructions to bidders, and contract bonds;
negotiates contracts and contract modifications;
resolves clarificationsfrom vendors and address their requests by issuing addendums.
Manages and reviews the preparation of complex vehicle designs, infrastructure designs and construction documents by establishing priorities, assigning tasks, allocating resources and monitoring progress to assure quality and cost-effective performance of design work.
Issues task order for As Needed Consultant.
Prepare CIP packets and Budget revisions and work with Finance/Accounting on Budget revisions and funding allocations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
