This role will support the Occupational Therapist and physician in conducting therapy treatments to improve patient mobility and physical health. Core duties include helping patients perform exercises or treatment plans and recording patient health progress. Screen all residents in facility on a quarterly basis, to identify those who have experienced declines in their functional abilities and determine if Occupational Therapy intervention is indicated. Identify, carry out ad modify treatment program according to plan of care in consultation with Registered Occupational Therapist Monitor and report resident performance and progress. Assist Registered Occupational Therapist in re-assessment of patients. Assist in determining need for continued services or discontinuation of services based on patient progress. Assist Occupational Therapist in discharge planning. Supervise Rehab Therapy Techs. Educate staff, family and care givers as indicated. Identify needs for program development and implement programs according to company policies and procedures. Identify equipment needs of Occupational Therapy Dept. and order equipment according to company and facility policy. Complete all required documentation according to guidelines specified in Documentation Manual. Coordinate in-services for facility staff as need is determined, to ensure safe and effective carry over of Maintenance/Restorative Programs and overall call of the residents. Attend all facility required meetings. Promote profession within facility, including assisting with coordinating special events Attend Continuing Education courses specific to current position. Carry out all job responsibilities in professional manner at all times. Active South Carolina license required. Associate Degree from an accredited Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant program required Must meet all certification and licensure requirements as established by the state and national board associations. Active CPR certification Must demonstrate professionalism, required assessment abilities, and clinical skills. Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 pounds /-). Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common reports. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries from patients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
