About the role:
The Principal Web Quality Engineer will play a critical role in the development and delivery of high-quality Web applications for the Banking Solutions business. As a Principal Web Quality Engineer, you will develop scalable automated test frameworks and tools that will enable developers and quality engineers to implement fast reliable test coverage and quality gates that run in CI/CD pipelines. In this role you will collaborate cross-functionally to research and implement web test automation frameworks and tooling that promote efficiency gains in testing and drive initiatives to enhance overall testing effectiveness and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Web testing strategies, extensive hands-on experience in Web test frameworks and a passion for improving user experiences. Your technical expertise and leadership skills will drive forward innovation and the rapid high-quality delivery of our web applications.
What you will be doing:
· Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Quality and help teams increase productivity and foster innovation.
· Implement and maintain a new Web UI test framework (Cypress).
· Evaluate third-party testing tools, services, and vendors, and make recommendations for adoption based on quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with organizational goals.
· You will be part of the Digital Quality Enablement team where you will research and implement automated testing solutions for UI functional and E2E tests, UI component visual testing, Accessibility, performance and security.
· Demonstrated ability to innovate and leverage new technologies, tools, and techniques to solve complex technical challenges in testing, test environments and test data.
· Enable teams with the testing frameworks, pipelines and tools that promote a shift-left testing approach.
· Implement quality gates in CI/CD pipelines
· Actively participate in continuous grooming and execution of the Quality Engineering Enablement Roadmap.
· Participate in code reviews to maintain the quality and stability of the test frameworks.
· Act as a subject matter expert on web testing topics, provide technical guidance to stakeholders on test automation strategies and best practices, and contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing efforts.
· Collaborate with development, QE, DevOps, product management, and other teams to align quality goals and drive continuous improvement in quality.
· Champion a culture of innovation, creativity, and excellence in Quality within the Digital teams, fostering collaboration and a positive work environment.
What you will need:
· Extensive hands-on experience with Cypress web testing framework.
· Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript
· Experience with visual test automation tools (Storybook, Applitools) and accessibility testing (Axe).
· Experience with code coverage and quality gating tools such as SonarQube.
· Experience in REST API testing using Cypress or tools like Postman.
· Hands-on Experience with CI/CD pipeline execution and build tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps.
· Deep understanding of Web UI automation best practices to prevent brittle tests and false positives.
· Proficient in debugging Web applications and analyzing logs.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with multiple teams across the organization.
· Knowledge of modern software development practices such as Agile methodologies, continuous integration, and test-driven development (TDD).
· Deep understanding and commitment to software engineering principles and processes (e.G., Lean, Agile, DevOps) and continuous improvement through measurement.
· Preferred degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent relevant experience
