Principal System Architect

We are looking for a Principal System Architect to help us build the next generation of silicon photonics based artificial intelligence accelerators and interconnect products.
As a Principal System Architect, you will be responsible for defining system solutions for the data center using Lightmatter’s innovative technology to create state of the art machine learning/artificial intelligence or massive scale-out interconnect platforms. You will work closely with our hardware and software teams, including mechanical, packaging, IC engineering, test and validation to design and build leading edge system level products.
Responsibilities
Designs and develops electrical architecture for data center equipment and their hardware systems. Determines and communicates design approaches and parameters
Drives system architecture definition for assigned program, and ensures consistency/compatibility with other products
Provide technical leadership of the System Design projects, attending meetings, providing cross-functional information, and driving solutions
Performs feature and cost trade-off analysis
Partitions design tasks and leads electrical team in implementation and validation on program
Drives appropriate simulation and ECAD.
Works with engineering manager and design engineers to assist in the creation of the development plan for programs, including schedule, risks and resources
Cultivate a strategic partnership with Lightmatter's Digital, Analog, Photonics, and SW architecture teams
Analyzes test plan requirements to perform verification and validation
Oversees experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components based on analysis of specifications, cost, continuity of supply, and reliability
Reviews original design manufacturer and sub-tier vendor capability to support product development and production.
Ensures that designs integrate with rest of product functions including mechanical and software
Creates and maintains required documentation including specifications.
Ensures the manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of designs
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 15+ years of related experience, or
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 12+ years of related experience
Experience in product early concept, development through production launch
Experience with different types of thermal management, including rack-level cooling, passive heat sinks, and cold plates
A solid understanding of security elements (TPM's) within a computer system, analog and digital design, high-speed bus interface design,CPLD / FPGA design, High-speed PCB layout design
Strong infrastructure experience, preferably data center
Preferred Qualification:
Board and system-level software and firmware experience
Data pipeline and ML/AI workload experience
Experience with immersion cooling systems
PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Previous technical leadership experience

We offer competitive compensation. The base salary range for this role, inclusive of all US locations, is $220,000-$300,000.Your base salary will be determined based on location, experience, educationalbackground, and market data.
