Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Mechanical Electronics Design Engineer. This position will be located at our Mission Systems Sector in Baltimore, MD.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
Support Full Rate Production (FRP), International Sales, and additional ground / sea development programs in Baltimore (Linthicum) Maryland.
Support route cause corrective action (RCCA) / investigation, modeling system level assemblies, designing lower-level subassemblies and components, creating documentation, supporting supplier procurement, in-house integration and test based on program requirements.
Collaborating effectively within a cross-functional Integrated Product Team (IPT), that also includes electrical engineering, systems engineering, thermal analysis, structural analysis, drafting, manufacturing and supply chain management.
Organizing and prioritizing tasks in order to accomplish project milestones within schedule and budgetary constraints.
Providing technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced personnel.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Mechanical Electronics Packaging Design Engineer:

Bachelor of Science in STEM with 5 years of related professional experience, OR Master of Science in STEM with 3 years of related professional experience, OR PhD with 0 years of experience. Will consider 9 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement.
Familiarity with design and development of precision electro-mechanical components and assemblies
Familiarity with Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD software
Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&
T) and ASME Y14.100 engineering drawing practices
Strong oral and written communication, attention to detail, self-motivated, organized, innovative thinking skills
“Team player”, who is able to collaborate effectively as a member of a cross-functional design team
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance or higher
Able to work onsite at Northrop Grumman facility in Baltimore, Maryland
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Mechanical Electronics Packaging Design Engineer:

Bachelor of Science in STEM with 9 years of related professional experience, OR Master of Science in STEM with 7 years of related professional experience, OR PhD with 4 years of experience. Will consider 13 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement.
Familiarity with design and development of precision electro-mechanical components and assemblies
Familiarity with Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD software
Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&
T) and ASME Y14.100 engineering drawing practices
Strong oral and written communication, attention to detail, self-motivated, organized, innovative thinking skills
“Team player”, who is able to collaborate effectively as a member of a cross-functional design team
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance or higher
Able to work onsite at Northrop Grumman facility in Baltimore, Maryland
Preferred Qualifications:

Aerospace &
Defense electronics industry experience
Product lifecycle support experience, spanning concept development through production
Experience with organic PCB / CCA design, including materials, design processes &
tools, and manufacturing processes
Working knowledge of military and commercial specifications applicable to electro-mechanical hardware
Familiar with principles of RF, digital, and power circuitry and components
Familiar with principles of AESA technology, Radar and RF Communications
Familiar with thermal and structural analysis methodologies and software tools
Hands-on experience with assembly and testing of prototype electronics hardware
Experience in a technical leadership role on a cross-functional product development team
Active DoD Secret or higher security clearance
This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance or the transferal of an active DoD Secret Clearance.
This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range:
$93,000 - $139,600
Salary Range 2:
$115,400 - $173,200
The above salary range represents a general guideline;
however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
