Description:
Physicians (s) shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently
All candidates must have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
All candidates must be Citizen of the United States.
All candidates must be currently certified in VHA-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalency and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications from the American Heart Association.
Physician candidate is experienced in the specialty required and is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field within the last five years.
All persons are compared against and are not listed on the OIG excluded parties list.
Direct Patient Care:
Estimated 95% of the time involved in direct patient care. Candidates shall be responsible for clinic appointments and follow-up of labs/imaging/procedures ordered during these appointments, interpretation, phone call consultation from hospitalists and intensivists on inpatients, and availability for case review with nurse practitioners on service.

Scope of Care:
Candidates shall be responsible for providing Family Practice and interventional Family Practice consultative services for:
assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting;
outpatient include bothscheduled and unscheduled Veterans. Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral. Record/document health appraisal information, clinical assessments, treatment decision, plan of care, ongoing management and therapeutic outcomes, order medications, diagnostic test and referral consultations where needed for every patient encounter;
recording will be accomplished using the electronic comprehensive patient record system (CPRS) and will be completed on the day of the encounter.
