Job Description
This is first-level supervisory work responsible for overseeing teams of various sizes performing unique duties and responsibilities in an assigned specialty of the Pretrial Services Department. This position directs, plans, assigns and supervises the work of subordinate staff and reports to a higher-level manager within the Pretrial Services Department. This department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year and some staff, if required by job assignment, may be considered essential employees of the District. Working nights, weekends, holidays and during inclement weather may be required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:
This posting is for a supervisory position within the Pretrial Supervision Unit. The unit monitors and supervises all individuals ordered to adhere to specific bail conditions, including ROSC-Type 1 and II, Direct Supervision, and Electronic Monitoring. All individuals ordered to pretrial supervision must report for an initial orientation and, after that, via telephone check-ins and office visits.
As with any entity within the First Judicial District, the Pretrial Services Department may be called upon to ensure the performance of essential duties or functions as deemed so by administrative and governing bodies, which may result in an individual being available perform essential tasks during court closures and/or non-traditional hours.

Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Provides work direction, training, and mentoring to subordinate staff.
Completes performance reviews/evaluations for subordinate staff and develops work plans as needed.
Assists clients and the general public in person and via telephone.
Delegates routine situations to staff and responds directly to more complex situations or complaints.
Prepares and collates weekly, monthly, or annual reports and drafts correspondence.
Collects, analyzes, interprets, and reports on unit-associated data.
Regularly reviews work procedures to ensure efficient and expeditious process of work.
Performs quality assurance reviews to ensure adherence to established practices/procedures.
Review and approve/deny leave requests while ensuring appropriate staffing levels at all times.
Ensures the responsibilities of assigned staff are covered in their absence or in the event of a vacancy being created.
Interviews applicants for position vacancies and provides hiring recommendations to administration.
Conducts monthly staff meetings and provides meeting minutes to the unit Manager.
Participates in mandatory training sessions.
Responsible for approving, submitting, and coordinating judicial orders pertaining to urinalysis.
Ensures caseloads are assigned and distributed evenly amongst staff.
Coordinates with the designated prison liaison to retrieve information, prepare any released individual-related paperwork, and troubleshoot matters involving individuals who are in custody.
Assigns duty-office responsibilities weekly.
Reviews for quality control the daily logs emailed from the Data Verification Unit (DVU), Electronic Monitoring Unit (EMU), and the Sheriff’s Warrant Unit and forwards to appropriate staff.
Provides supplementary supervisory coverage for Records and Notification on an as-needed basis.
Performs additional duties / assignments as directed by an administrative superior.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of general office practices and procedures;
Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office and Windows software applications;
General knowledge of the National Pretrial Standards:
Knowledge of FJD policies and procedures.
Skill in business writing and oral communications.
Skill in creating detailed narrative and graphical business reports.
Ability to effectively communicate in English both orally and in writing.
Ability to provide information clearly and concisely.
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
Ability to think critically and problem solve.
Ability to enforce both departmental and District policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates, justice partners and the general public.
