City Experiences is seeking a Port Engineer for our City Cruises operation in New York City.

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.
About the Opportunity:
The Port Engineer for City Cruises - New York is responsible for expertly managing the engineering and maintenance team leading to the diligent maintenance and elevated reliability of vessels in the City Cruises New York City Operation. The Port Engineer will manage the CC-US NYC Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure the highest level of readiness, US Coast Guard regulatory compliance, safety of the fleet and service to our guests. A successful Port Engineer will maintain positive working relationships with other departments, vendors, and service providers. The Port Engineer will have a focus on continuous improvement within the division and business unit. The right person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody Hornblower's RESPECT Service System.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Engineering and Maintenance:
Responsible for the safety and reliability of City Cruises US New York fleet and equipment.
Responsible for the safety culture, training, and adherence to all company, general safety policies and sound marine practice for the Engineering and Maintenance crew members.
Responsible to ensure the Engineering and Maintenance team successfully accomplishes assigned duties.
Ensures all Preventative Maintenance items are completed on time and documented in HELM.
Ensures Corrective Maintenance items are identified, promptly addressed and documented within the HELM Maintenance Management System
Responsible for preparation and execution of detailed plans for significant R&
M and capital projects for all vessels, equipment, and pier side facilities. Plans should adhere to project management practices to include clear scope, detailed specifications, clear timelines, goals, budget tracking for materials and labor and allowance for contingencies.
Responsible for operational oversight of the engineering and maintenance department for budgeting (including RFPs, bids, capital projects), task assignments, crew scheduling, and regulatory compliance for all major marine R&
M, and equipment including but not limited to:
Engines (main, generator &
bow thruster) - routinemaintenance, overhauls and repowers.
Scheduled and emergency dry docks.
Structural repairs (steel, wood, aluminum repair/replacement)
Generators, switchgear, and entire electrical system
Piping Systems to include potable water, raw water, gray water, black water, chill water, and cooling systems.
Hydraulic System maintenance &
repair
Refrigeration &
Galley Equipment maintenance &
repair
All Running Gear (reduction gears, shafting, bearings, rudders, etc.)
Engine and Steering Controls
HVAC Plants and related components
Marine Finishes maintenance and appearance
Interior Finishes - maintenance &
repair
Draft plans including scope and specifications for all required drydocks on all CCUS- New York vessels.
Provide support to Deck Department as needed for engineering expertise.
Maintain positive working relationship with critical vendors and suppliers.
Ensure the City leadership team is frequently updated on all project progress and any delays or impact on operations.
Ensure all engineering data within the HELM (Maintenance Management System) is kept up to date.
Ensure all engineering and maintenance KPIs are met.
Ensures adherence to Coast Guard rules and regulations and to good common marine engineering practices.
Maintain a positive working relationship &
open communication withthe local Coast Guard inspection team.
Participates in the development of the City strategic business plan.
Participates in the development and maintenance the City Long Range Maintenance Plan
Develops a positive working relationship and works closely with the Deck Department to ensure a team approach to ensure fleet is in top condition for safety, regulatory compliance, mechanical dependability and is aesthetically pleasing.
Develops positive working relationships with other department heads and peers.
Maintains all engineering Standard Operating Procedures for all vessels and shoreside facilities including Startups, Shutdowns, Bunkering and Fuel Spill Response Plan.
Oversee Inventory including tracking all equipment out for repair and all leased equipment.
Always maintain the appropriate level of parts inventory by managing personnel and overseeing the inventory process of ordering and receiving parts, receipt inspection, and proper storage.
Administration:
Establishes department priorities and executes against them based on long-term vision.
Works with Director of Marine Operations to develop annual budgets according to company guidelines and works to responsibly execute them.
Monitors and controls all costs associated with the Maintenance and Engineering Department.
Finds and recommends cost savings that are consistent with company objectives.
Provides a monthly budget and R&
M forecast to the General Manager
Monitors/oversees scheduling Maintenance and Engineering crew work periods to achieve maximum payroll efficiency.
Recruits new engineers and maintenance team members when necessary to fill vacant positions. Recommends appropriate compensation packages within company guidelines.
Provides and executes an integration plan for each new hire or promotion according to the established training program.
Specify and purchase equipment and materials to repair and upgrade dining yachts while meeting or exceeding Coast Guard regulatory requirements.
Provides ongoing performance feedback, coaching and development/career growth plans to all Engineering Department team members.
Provides and directs for each Engineering and Maintenance Department team member, specifically:
Recommends the promotion of Engineering and Maintenance Department team members.
Additional job duties as assigned.
Requirements &
Qualifications:
Minimum of ten years of experience working on machinery in the marine environment desired.
Previous experience leading a team in a marine maintenance environment.
A college degree in a related field preferred.
Strong experience with maintenance tracking software
US Coast Guard Engineering License a plus
Microsoft Office proficiency
A flexible schedule is required
