About the Role:
The Assistant Director manages the service delivery team for the following programs serving households with children:
Homelessness Prevention Services (Regions II)
Emergency Shelter &
Rapid Rehousing Services (Region II)
The Assistant Director provides support to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operation of all programs. The Assistant Director develops strategies in collaboration with the Director of Programs and Services (Region II) to accomplish program goals in accordance with agency philosophy and values. The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring that best practices are implemented according to program type.
Requirements
How you will contribute:
Lead the Senior Case Manager, Housing Locator, Family Supportive Housing Specialist, and Case Management Team in the daily operation of services provided
Participate in client meetings as needed to support the service delivery team
Act as advocate on behalf of the population served and/or individual clients when necessary
Conduct ongoing program evaluation, needs assessments, and client satisfaction activities
Hear and address client grievances and appeals
Monitor the files to ensure documentation is complete
Provide coaching and development support to direct reports through regularly scheduled one on one meetings and evaluations
Design and implement in-service training and professional development program for program staff
Assist Director in creating a professional environment which supports team building, self-directed work teams, and a learning organization
Assist the Director in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the programs
Assist the Director in creating and implementing policies and procedures
Ensure that available funding sources are spent, tracked, and that required documentation is completed and filed
Ensure compliance with and update emergency preparedness plans
Ensure contractual compliance with Fairfax County as well as state and federal regulations
Serve as the program representative to various committees and workgroups
Network with other providers and attend community meetings on behalf of agency and / or program
Ensure compliance with Fairfax County HMIS requirements and verify / monitor the accuracy of the data
Proficiently utilize Microsoft Suites applications (email, calendar, drive, docs, etc.) as a part of day to day work requirements
Safely utilize Shelter House vehicles to transport clients or drive on behalf of Shelter House as needed
Verify and approve staff timesheets and leave requests
Coordinate the on call schedule for the service delivery team and serve as a back-up to help staff address crisis issues

About You:
Required:
A bachelor's degree in human services/ related field or commensurate experience
1+ years of program and staff management experience
Strong public speaking and communication skills
Strong written communication skills
Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and make sound judgements
Valid Driver’s License
Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed
Preferred:
A master’s degree in human services / related field
Experience leading/ supporting programs serving homeless families
Experience leading/ managing in a residential environment
Physical Requirements:
Annual TB Test is required
Ability to sit or stand for long periods
Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds
